  Another lawsuit... this one in Oregon.

  complaint: negligence, breach of confidential relationship, intentional infliction of severe emotional distress.

  once again the elders appointed a convicted and confessed child molester to a position of responsibility as an officer and ministerial servant of the congregation.

  this time the accused name is jerry anderson crabb of the lancaster congregation of jehovah's witnesses - 4795 macleay road se, salem, or 97301. sadly, as one would expect, he has been accused of sexually abusing a child on multiple occasions.

  Regarding the second sentence in the first paragraph, perhaps this rewording for clairity: "These are a group separate from the "Little......"

  Also, regarding the heading "History and affect," perhaps you mean "effect?" And, I believe both words should be capatalized... History and Effect.

  This is what is occuring in Portland, Oregon with the Portland Catholic Archdiocese. When the Portland branch is completely bankrupt the lawyers are going to go after the assets of the members of the church. Such as placing liens on houses, cars and attaching bank accounts of members of the Portland Archdiocese Catholic Church.

  As I am part of the e-Watchman thread posted, I feel somewhat qualified to comment here. The post was meant as humorous HYPERBOLE.

  wife, a member of the jehovahs witnesses, sued watchtower society and church elders alleging that the church and the individual defendants failed to render assistance to her when she was consistently and repeatedly beaten by her husband over a period of 20 years; actions for intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress and for breach of fiduciary duty time barred; limitation periods not tolled by the doctrine of fraudulent concealment; church teaching that members were not to resort to lawsuits did not postpone the running of the limitations periods until plaintiffs expulsion from the church; however, the claim for breach of implied contract to protect plaintiff so long as she was obedient to the church was timely because the alleged breach could be considered to have occurred on the date of plaintiffs expulsion from the church; but the claim for breach of implied contract was barred by the first amendment case # 801 (10/00) (conn. super.

  ct.) (for collateral proceeding in the same case, see index entry in the next paragraph) .

  As to alleged events that occurred within the three year limitations period, derogatory remarks about and verbal mistreatment of plaintiff in the course of the disfellowship proceedings were not “extreme and outrageous.” Conduct on the part of the defendant that is merely insulting or displays bad manners or results in hurt feelings is insufficient to form the basis for an action based upon intentional infliction of emotional distress.

  Simple answer...she lost.

  LDH: The court is not saying the abuse was not outrageous. They were commenting only on the above underlined situations. Events prior to 1995 were barred from consideration.

  Intolerance - a new breed of ex-JW

  i cant help but think of the analogy of pendulum swings when i think about how vitriolic some are towards religion (of any description), the bible (and other scripture), and christianity (generally, regardless of there being a wide range of denominational flavours) in particular.. it seems to me, from my perspective of sitting here on a remote scottish island, that there are a fair number of folks who may have left an intolerant and generalising religion but forgot to leave those attitudes with it.. just my 2p, coz to be frank i'm getting sick of it.. by all means enjoy some self-expression, it's a relatively free planet, but have a heart....

  I have checked out many religions and have decided that ALL of them, especially the Abrahamic religions, are crap. I think that the world would be a better place if we just got rid of them. Especially the fudies. Most all religions are intolerant towards the others.

  This Past Sunday My Wife Took Me To The Elders!

  early sunday morning, around 1:30 a.m., my wife wakes me and says that she can't sleep and needs to talk with me.

  i say ok and she proceeds to tell me that she wants a seperation.

  i was hurt, but not shocked, because our relationship is not that close at this point after 14 yrs of marriage.

  I'm not saying it hasn't happened; I'm simply saying that it is not likely to happen. Perhaps I am wrong, but I suspect your case happened a while ago. The approach now is more towards Jehovah judging these situations as there is no clear right/wrong.

  And, yes, he could play "hardball," but why? Enlightenedcynic himself stated that the marriage wasn't that close 'after 14 years.' It sounds like both she and he would be happier apart.
